Sometimes a varietal, sometimes a blend; always lush, rich, and complex. A perfection of style & balance, ANVIL 2009 is a solid, classic Bordeaux blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot & 20% Petit Verdot. Limited production, highly allocated & critically acclaimed, our 2009 vintage of ANVIL is a solid, classic Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot grapes, but exhibits a seldom-encountered perfection of style and balance. Although this concentrated blend is easy to drink now with its complex flavors, purity of fruit, and density of structure, additional cellaring will allow it to gain complexity over the next decade.

Zinfandel vs Primitivo Comparative Tasting @ Forgeron Cellars
Date:
March 8, 2014
Location:
Forgeron Cellars WOODINVILLE Tasting Room
Description:
Join us Saturday, March 18 12 – 5pm @ Forgeron Cellars' WOODINVILLE Tasting Room for a fun & casual come-&-go Comparative Tasting to learn about Marie-Eve’s 2 favorite Italian-style varietals. Learn which is YOUR favorite! Primitivo is a lesser-known varietal closely related to the Zinfandel grape, but the wines they produce have very distinct differences. The fruit character of Primitivo is less jammy and the structure is more similar to Old World wines, with rustic notes of earth and spice, as well as tamed fruit flavors. Washington Zinfandel is a classical version of red Zinfandel, bursting with juicy, fruity aromas and licorice spice, followed by cracked pepper and clove as well rich cherry jam characteristics on the palate with clean slate and mineral flavors from backed up by a variety of spices including white pepper, nutmeg and cinnamon. Being genetic twins “separated at birth” these 2 varietals are so similar yet so different – the fun is trying to tell them apart!
