Our Story
MORE THAN A TASTING ROOM
Forgeron Cellars of Walla Walla, Washington, provides wine enthusiasts who are looking for more than just a “Tasting Room” experience, an opportunity to sample some of Washington’s most elegant wines with Forgeron Cellars founding winemaker, Marie-Eve Gilla. Located in an old blacksmith shop at 3rd and Birch, Forgeron Cellars is within easy walking distance from all of Walla Walla’s major hotels and restaurants.
As guests tour through the tank and barrel rooms, they are given an intimate look into the mechanics of wine making while being treated to award winning red and white wines. Every tour includes insight into Marie-Eve’s wine-making philosophy and how it affects each individual wines character and makeup. Born and educated in Paris, France, Marie-Eve (now a Naturalized U.S. Citizen) came to the Pacific Northwest more than 20 years ago. Just prior to her joining together with a team of investors to form Forgeron Cellars in 2001, Marie-Eve was at Gordon Brothers where she earned many awards for increasing the quality of wines produced.
Over the years, Marie-Eve has developed working relationships with Washington State’s most prestigious vineyards, including Boushey, Klipsun and Sagemoor. Focusing on grapes from throughout the Walla Walla, Yakima, and Columbia Valleys, allows Marie-Eve to follow each harvest to it’s maximum potential. It’s Marie-Eve’s attention to detail, from checking on each vineyard during growing and harvest seasons to carefully nurturing and monitoring each fruit as it progresses from tank to barrel to bottles that has gained her national recognition.
Marie-Eve supports and participates in a variety of civic events and charities in the area and throughout the State, including The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’s Dream for The Cure Gala, Seattle Children’s Hospital, and the Blue Mountain Humane Society. In addition to memberships with the Walla Walla Chamber of Commerce and Downtown Walla Walla, Marie-Eve currently serves as Treasurer of the Washington Wine Technical Group whose goal is to improve the quality of Washington wines through education.
