Our Story

Ginkgo Forest Winery is located just 1.5 miles north of Mattawa on the west side of Hwy. 243. The winery lies at the foot of the Saddle Mountains where owner and winemaker Mike Thiede found many petrified trees while exploring the hills. The 2005 reds include a Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and a blend of the three. More recent bottlings include a 2006 Cabernet Sauvignon, 2006 Syrah, 2006 Ginkgo Red and 2006 (sold out) and 2007 Pinot Noir. White wines include an off-dry Gewirztraminer and a late harvest Gewürztraminer. The grapes come from the Wahluke Slope AVA, mostly from the Thiede Family vineyards. Thiede combines his ability to grow superior grapes with a scientific and artistic background to produce premium, hand-crafted wines.
