Our Story
Airfield Estates Winery has a rich history that can be traced back to the WWII era when our family property served as a training base for military pilots. After the war, we converted the old airbase into our farm headquarters. Today, this site still serves as the center of our vineyard operations.
For the past 40 years, our family has been growing premium wine grapes in the Yakima Valley. Until recently, we sold our entire production of grapes to other wineries. Now, we have expanded into winemaking. With the construction of our new winery in Prosser, we are making 100% estate wines that showcase the quality of our vineyards.
Our new winery resembles a vintage airplane hanger with faux hanger doors that open up to the patio and waterfall area. A 45-foot tower is attached to the winery and serves as the VIP tasting room/ wine library. While you are sampling our wide range of wine, you can browse the old WWII pictures, listen to vintage big band music, and have a glimpse back in time to the 1940s.
Our complimentary tasting list includes the following wines:
• 2007 Unoaked Chardonnay
• 2006 Chardonnay
• 2007 Pinot Gris
• 2007 Foot-stomped Syrah Rosé
• 2006 Merlot
• NV Cabernet Sauvignon
• 2005 Aviator Red (Syrah, Merlot, Cab blend)
• 2006 Syrah
• 2006 Reserve Syrah
• 2006 Riesling Ice Wine.
Wine-by-the-glass and cheese platters are available during our peak season (May through October). Winery tours can also be coordinated upon advanced notice.
